Strengths: Grant is a four year player, with an NBA pedigree. His father and his uncle played in the NBA, and his brother is heading into his second year for the Sixers. He’s a pass first PG that really knows how to move the ball and find his open teammates in rhythm for shots at the rim or from the three point line. He excelled in drive and kick situations, taking advantage of the attention he drew because of his ability to score in the paint. Grant used his height and size to take smaller guards to the hoop and finish, or stop short and hit mid-range jump shots. He has a good idea of how to operate in pick and roll situations. Grant flashes the ability to be a good on ball defender. He also takes real good care of the ball, his assist to turnover rate was 3 to 1 this past season.
Weaknesses: Grant is a inconsistent shooter from long range. His form needs serious work. Teams will play off of him, go under screens until he proves he can make the NBA three. He also has difficulty finishing through contact at the rim, he must improve his strength so he can take hits and finish. Grant has the physical tools to be a very good defensive player, but lacked the consistent effort and focus at the college level. He’ll have to focus on defense if he is to earn time early on in his career.
