Grade: Top 10 Pick
Strengths: Hezonja has been playing pro ball since the age of 14. He showed his NBA talent and potential playing in an limited role, in one of Europe’s toughest leagues. He has prototype height and athleticism for a NBA wing. He finishes above the rim in transition and in traffic with regularity. He’s a very good spot up shooter from distance. He has very good form and a quick trigger. He also can come off of screens, set his feet, elevate and knock down shots. He handles the ball pretty well, showing the ability to create space off of the bounce and get clean looks. He’s not afraid to take it to the hole and throw it down on a big at the rim. Able defender who’s not afraid of contact, not afraid to mix it up. Has the potential to be a very good two way player.
Weaknesses: Hezonja is very confident, sometimes at a fault. He will hold the ball, not run the offense and jack up contested shots. He’s an able passer, but will look off teammates. He settles for jump shots too often when he could use his athleticism to get to the rim and FT line. His focus and effort on defense comes and goes. Hezonja must develop his body, which will come with age and he’s going to have a big adjustment to the overall athleticism of the NBA.
