Robert Upshaw 7’0 258 lbs C 7’5 Wingspan Washington So. 21 years old
2014-15 Stats: 19 Games 25 mpg 11 ppg 8.2 rpg(2.5 Off) 4.5 bpg 59% FG 43% FT
#30 on the Big Board
Grade: Top 25-35 Pick
Strengths: Upshaw is an elite rim protector, the best in the entire draft. He blocks shots as a weakside defender, and blocks the shots of guys who post him up and try to score over him. He has elite length and has a very good feel for blocking shots. He rebounds the ball well on both ends of the floor. He has good hands, catches lobs and finishes with ease.
Weaknesses: Upshaw is a horrible post player, he has a lack of touch around the basket, and poor footwork on the block. Horrible free throw shooter, shot only 43% from the line. Even at 258 lbs, he is still thin, needs to hit the weight room. Talented, but he’s been kicked out of two schools mid-season….he has a proven track record of not being able to be trusted. First round talent, but I wouldn’t take a chance on him until the 2nd round.
