Grade: Top 20-30 Pick
Strengths: Delon Wright is a smart, mature PG prospect with very good height and length for the position. He has a natural feel for the game of basketball. Elite court vision, he uses his height to see over the defense and find cutters for easy layups and dunks. He fairs well in half court sets and on the break. He knows how to run the offense, operates well in P+R situations, getting to the rim, finding the big diving to the rim, or finding spot up shooters. Wright also rebounds his position very well, which allows him to push the ball, getting his team into early scoring situations. Wright is a very good on ball defender, and his size will allow his to guard both G positions. Wright got better late in the season as a spot up shooter from three point range. He is a backup PG in my opinion who could have a very long NBA career.
Weaknesses: Wright lacks elite, blow by speed and leaping ability. His rail thin body makes it hard for him to finish at the rim and deal with big, physical guards at times. He doesn’t shoot the ball well off of the dribble. I question his ability to be a scoring threat at the NBA level. He’s 23 years old right not, only 181 lbs, how much more weight can he add to his frame? Not a lot of upside for him in my opinion.
