Grade: Top 20-30 Pick

Strengths: Wood came in as a 200 lb freshman, who didn’t see much time on the floor. He blossomed as a sophomore, adding 16 pounds of muscle to his frame and having a very good year. He’s a very athletic big, with face up skills. He can face up his man and beat him off of the dribble, finishing above the rim with authority. Wood has a nice touch from 14-18 feet, making him effective in pick and pop situations. He also flashed the ability to hit the college three in catch and shoot situations(24 made at a 28% clip). He is a very good rebounder, especially on the offensive end, based off of his length and leaping ability alone. He’s quick off of the floor, a very good second and third jumper. Defensively, he’s a shot blocker and rim protector who also is agile enough to contain dribble penetration in pick and roll situations. He has lottery type talent and I would not be surprised to see him go in the top 10-15 picks in this draft.

Weaknesses: Wood needs to continue to add weight and strength to his frame. He’s not a kid who is going to be ready to compete year one from a physical standpoint. He also needs to work on his post game and become a consistent mid range shooter. He kind of reminds me of Anthony Randolph, he was a very skilled big man, a boom or bust prospect who never panned out as a pro. He doesn’t like the pass the ball, forces up a lot of bad shots, must learn to share the ball, move it and play the right way.
