superbowl

Just 4 teams are left in the NFL playoffs this year, and a pair of big games this weekend will decide who will compete in the Super Bowl in a few weeks. It is definitely going to be interesting to follow, as each team has an opportunity to win it all. Here is a case for why each one could win 2 more games, with a final pick at the end.

Indianapolis Colts

If there is a team that can be considered an underdog in the NFL playoffs right now, it would probably be the Indianapolis Colts. This is the least complete team out there, but they do seem to be playing extremely well. It helps that they have a budding superstar quarterback in Andrew Luck, but he will be really tested against the New England Patriots in the AFC championship game.

In order to win, this team is going to need to pick up a lot of passing yards against the New England Patriots. They have a rushing attack that has been very inconsistent the entire year. They ranked in the bottom 3rd of the NFL on the ground, so they have no chance if the passing game is not strong. Their defense is not particularly strong either, so they will have their best bet if they make this a high-scoring affair.

New England Patriots

People in fantasy football were ready to get rid of Tom Brady after the 1st part of the regular season in 2014. He certainly looks like he was pretty rusty as a quarterback, and New England did not even look like a playoff contender. Something switched for them just in time, as they finished the regular season as strong as any other team in the NFL.

When you look at the statistics for them this year, they really were not all that dominant in any particular category. The good news is that they were also not poor in any category either. Brady needs to be pretty sharp at this point in the playoffs, and for the 1st time all year they seem to be relatively healthy at receiver. If they can get some assistance in the running game, they will begin to go.

Green Bay Packers

Aaron Rodgers has been playing like a MVP this year for Green Bay. He did just enough as he was banged up against the Dallas Cowboys to pull out a victory in the last round. The health of him is going to determine whether or not Green Bay has a chance against the defending Super Bowl champions.

Having to go to Seattle is definitely difficult for any team, so the Green Bay Packers are going to face a tough test in the NFC championship game. That is why many people feel like the key to success will be running back Eddie Lacy.

Green Bay has never been particularly strong on defense in the last few years, and this year their rushing defense was pretty poor. That is good news for the Seattle Seahawks, as they do like to run the football consistently. Of course, if Rodgers is healthy, they will go in there with a pretty good fight.

Seattle Seahawks

At times, the Seattle Seahawks have not looked like the defending Super Bowl champions. However, here they are just 2 wins away from defending their title. It would be pretty impressive if they can put together a pretty nice run here, and it helps that they get to play Green Bay at home.

As expected, Seattle’s defense has been as good as advertised does regular season. They are probably the best overall defense in the NFL right now, and that could cause trouble for Aaron Rodgers since he is not really playing at 100% as far as health is concerned.

The passing game has been pretty nonexistent this year for Seattle, but they did not really pass the ball all that effectively last year either. As long as they are able to run the football against Green Bay and whoever they face in the Super Bowl, they have a great shot.
